UCC Diploma in Early Childhood Education – Sandwich

The UCC sandwich diploma in Early Child Education programme is a three (3) long vacation period of eight (8) weeks each usually running from May to June which is offered by the University of Cape Coast. Admission Requirements for Diploma in Early Childhood Education at UCC – Sandwich 

Direct Entry Candidates

1.  Post-Senior High School candidates with passes in 5 subjects.  Three (3) of the (5) subjects must be in core subjects (including English language, Mathematics and either Integrated Science or Social Studies) and two elective subjects with a minimum aggregate of 24 for SSSCE and 36 for WASSCE or ‘O’ level
2.  Applicants with Teachers’ Certificate ‘A’ or Certificate in Early Childhood Education from recognized institutions with a GPA of 2.5 or better.

Entry through Examination and Interview

1. Applicants must be 25 years and above and must have written SSSCE, WASSCE, ‘O’ Level or an equivalent examination with at least three credit passes
2. Applicants with a certificate in Early Childhood Education from recognized institutions with GPA between 2.4 and 1.5

Note:  Candidates in category (2) would be required to pass a selection examination and interview scheduled for Friday, 22nd April  2024 at the Department of Basic Education, UCC.

UCC B.Ed Early Childhood Education Sandwich (Post-Diploma) 

The B.Ed sandwich degree programme for Early Childhood programme runs for two long vacation periods of eight (8) weeks respectively from May to July and December to January sessions within one academic year.

Admission Requirements for Sandwich B.Ed Early Childhood Education

1. Direct Entry Applicants: Applicants with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education from recognized institutions with a GPA of 2.5 or better

2. Entry through Examination and Interview: Applicants with Diploma in Early Childhood Education from recognized institutions with GPA between 2.4 and 1.5

The UCC B.Ed Basic Education sandwich degree programme runs for two long vacation periods of eight (8) weeks respectively from May to July and December to January sessions within one academic year.

UCC B.sc Science Education Sandwich Programme – Post Diploma

The UCC B.sc science education sandwich programme spans three Sandwich Semesters – The First Semester begins in May 2024.

UCC Admission Requirements for B.sc Science Education Sandwich

UCC Fine Arts Education (Painting or Sculpture) – Sandwich (Post Diploma)

The UCC Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting or Sculpture programme is a five (5) Sandwich Semesters programme where the first Semester begins in May 2024 and ends in July 2024.

The UCC Bachelor of Construction Technology programme is a four (4) Sandwich Semesters programme where the first Semester begins in May 2024 and ends in July 2024.

• Holders of HND in Building Construction, Civil Engineering or Wood Technology from accredited local or international tertiary institutions
• Holders of Diploma in Architecture, Land Surveying or Quantity Surveying with at least Second Class Lower

UCC Diploma in Transport and Road Safty Management

The UCC Diploma in Transport and Road Safety Management programme is three (3) long vacation semesters lasting 8 weeks and the first semester begins in May 2024.

Admission Requirements for UCC Diploma in Transport and Road Safty Management

• Post SSCE/WASSCE: Candidates must obtain three (3) credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and or Social Studies. Additionally, candidates must have credit passes in Geography and one of the following subjects: Economics, Elective Mathematics/Statistics, Business Management, Government and History.
• Others: The programme is also available to candidates with certificates in basic road safety or fleet management or certificate in intermediate or advanced vocational/technical training

UCC BSc. Transport and Logistics Management – Post Diploma

The UCC BSc. Transport and Logistics Management programme duration is two years (3 sandwich semesters) leading to the award of a B.Sc. in Transport and Logistics Management. The first semester begins in May 2024.

Admission Requirements for UCC BSc. Transport and Logistics Management

Applicants should possess any of the following:

• Diploma in Transport & Road Safety Management from a recognised institution.
• Higher National Diploma (HND) in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution and obtained a minimum of Second class (lower division). In addition to any of the above, the applicant should have:
• Worked in an automobile or related industry for at least two (2) years.
• Passed a departmental interview selection process.

UCC Diploma in Social Behaviour and Conflict Management

The UCC Diploma in Social Behaviour and Conflict Management is a three (3) long vacation semesters programme lasting eight (8) weeks each.  The first Semester begins in May 2024.

Admission Requirements for UCC Diploma in Social Behaviour and Conflict Management

Applicants should possess any of the following:

1. Certificate in Social Behaviour and Conflict Management from the University of Cape Coast
2. SSCE or WASSCE Holders:  The candidate must have credit passes (A-D) or (A1 – C6) in six subjects with an overall aggregate of 24 / 36 or better.  Three of the six subjects must be core subjects including (English Language, Mathematics and either Integrated Science or Social Studies) and three must be in electives relevant to the programme
3. GCE ‘A’ level passes in two subjects and ‘O’ level credit passes in English and Mathematics
4. GCE ‘O’ level passes in five subjects including English and Mathematics
5. Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’ with ‘O’ level credit passes English and Mathematics
6. Stenographer Grade Two Certificate and any other related certificates.

Note:  Candidates with good passes in the elective subjects but do not have credit in Core Mathematics or Core English would be required to pass a selection examination to be conducted by the Department at a later date.

The UCC Bachelor of Arts in Social Behaviour and Conflict Management is a three (3) long vacation semesters programme lasting eight (8) weeks each.  The first Semester begins in May 2024.

UCC Diploma in Labour Studies (DLS)

The UCC Diploma in Labour Studies is a two (2) long vacation semester programme lasting 8 weeks each.  The First Semester begins in May 2024.

Admission Requirements for UCC Diploma in Labour Studies

• Certificate in Labour Studies from the University of Cape Coast
• Post-SSCE/WASSCE: Candidates must obtain three (3) credit passes in English, Core Mathematics, Integrated Science and or Social Studies.
• GCE ‘A-Level passes in three subjects and ‘O’ Level credit passes in English and Mathematics
• GCE ‘O’ Level passes in five subjects including English and Mathematics.  Such candidates will have to pass a special entrance examination.

The UCC Bsc. Nursing Degree Sandwich is a three (3) semester sandwich programme each lasting eight (8) weeks followed by inter-semester courses during vacation. The first semester begins in May 2024

Applicant must:

• Be a Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a diploma from a recognized institution, and must have a minimum working experience of not less than three (3) years.
• Have an active registration with the Nurses and Midwives Council (NMC).

UCC  BSc. Health Information Management Sandwich

The UCC BSc. Health Information Management Sandwich is a four (4) long vacation period (8 weeks each) for HND or Diploma holders and two (2) long vacation periods (8 weeks each) for Certificate courses. The First Semester starts in May and ends in July 2024.

Admission Requirements for UCC Bsc. Health Information Management

1.        A good HND or Diploma in either Statistics or Health Information, preferably first class, second class (upper or lower) division or its equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution

2.        Certificate in Health Information Management from UCC

ii.       CERTIFICATE COURSE IN HEALTH INFORMATION OR ITS EQUIVALENT

(a).     Applicants with six weeks and/or six months certificate from Kintampo or any recognized institution would be admitted into a two (2) semester Certificate (Access) Course.

1.     Applicants for the Certificate (Access) course must have a minimum of D or C6 in English Language and Mathematics

2.     Applicants with six weeks and/or six months certificate in Health Records will have to pass an entrance examination and interview

3.     The entrance examination will consist of an aptitude test and a general paper.

4.     Candidates who pass all the papers in the entrance examination will then qualify for an interview

(b).    MATURE CANDIDATES

1.        Mature candidates must be at least 25years at the time of applying (a certified birth certificate will be required)

2.        G.C.E. ‘O’ level or SSSCE/WASSCE credit passes in English Language and Core Mathematics

3.        Mature candidates will be admitted into a two (2) semester Certificate (Access) Course

4.        The entrance examination will consist of an aptitude test and a general paper.  Candidates who pass all the papers in the entrance examination will then qualify for the interview

 UCC BSc. Medical Laboratory Science – Post Diploma

The UCC BSc. Medical Laboratory Sandwich is two (2) years (4 Semesters) for the BSc. Medical Laboratory Science Programme and two (2) Semesters for the Access Programme.

Admission requirements for UCC BSc. Medical Laboratory Science Sandwich

i.   Possess a good HND / Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, preferably first class, second class (upper or lower) division or its equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution

ii.  Applicants with a BSc. in Applied Biology, Biological Sciences, Laboratory Technology or any other with a minimum of two years post-qualification experience in the Clinical Laboratory are eligible to apply

2.       ACCESS PROGRAMME INTO BSC. MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE

i.  Applicants should be 25 years and above and must have practised medical laboratory science for a minimum of three years

ii. Applicants must have a minimum of credit passes in English and Mathematics and a certificate in a medical laboratory from a recognized institution

iii. Applicants with HND laboratory technology also qualify to enroll in the programme. Successful applicants will be invited for an interview.

iv.  Graduates of the access program will be enrolled on the four (4) semester BSc. Medical Laboratory Science programme.

UCC BSc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics – Post Diploma

The UCC BSc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics for the first Semester of the 2024 Sandwich Session begins in May 2024 and ends in June 2024. The exact re-opening day will be included in the admission letters of students.

How to pay for UCC Sandwich Admission Fees

Fees for all programmes should be paid into the UCC Sandwich Admissions Account (Account Number 3021130000995, University of Cape Coast Branch) at any networked branch of Ghana Commercial Bank.

Accommodation for UCC Sandwich Students

The sandwich programmes are non-residential, and students outside Cape Coast will be responsible for securing their own accommodation on campus. There are accommodation options in the halls of residence to choose from.
